A Phoenix auto repair shop interior with a glowing Google Maps pin overhead.

Vertical: Auto repair / mechanic
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Timeline: 1 week (initial lift); full 12-week program ongoing
Result: +400% market share in seven days

The Starting Position

A Phoenix auto repair shop with strong word-of-mouth and loyal customers but effectively no Map Pack presence. Classic pattern, the shop was excellent at what it did, but invisible on Google. The owner knew something was wrong but had been pitched by three prior agencies and didn't trust any of them.

Quote from week 0: "Everybody I talk to says the same things. Why should I believe you?"

The answer we gave: "Because of what you'll see in week 1."

The Methodology Applied (Week 1 Focus)

Most Map Pack wins take 8-12 weeks. This one showed meaningful lift in 7 days because the underlying business was already strong, it just had a misconfigured GBP and missing signals. The Week-1 protocol:

Day 1-2: GeoGrid baseline
- 49-point scan confirmed: Map Pack presence near zero outside a 1-mile centroid
- Identified exactly which S2 cell clusters had the weakest signal

Day 2-3: GBP emergency audit
- Primary category was wrong (listed as "Car Repair and Maintenance Service"; correct primary for this shop's mix was "Auto Repair Shop")
- Secondary categories missing the high-intent options: brake repair, oil change, transmission repair
- Service menu unpopulated
- Business hours inconsistent across platforms
- Photos inadequate (8 photos; benchmark is 30+)

Day 3-5: Entity signal compression
- GBP rebuilt with corrected taxonomy
- 30+ photos uploaded (bays, team, before/after shots, exterior signage from multiple angles)
- Review velocity activated, 12 new reviews landed inside 5 days
- Citation audit and cleanup across the top 40 data aggregators

Day 5-7: First re-scan
- GeoGrid re-run at end of week 1
- Map Pack positions lifted from "not present" to positions 2-4 across most target cells
- Market share increase: +400% vs. week 0 baseline

Client quote: "I absolutely love domination!"

Why Week-1 Lift Happened

This is worth understanding. Most Map Pack work takes 8-12 weeks because the underlying business needs fundamental fixes, weak reviews, bad content, thin citations, missing pages. This shop had none of those problems. It just had:

  1. A wrong primary GBP category (single biggest Map Pack ranking factor for most verticals)
  2. Missing secondary categories (which capture adjacent query intent)
  3. A thin GBP media profile (photos = trust signal)
  4. Inconsistent NAP citations (which cap the maximum rank)

When you fix configuration issues on a business that already has strong reviews and a real customer base, you get Week-1 lift. When you have to fix fundamental business issues first, it takes 8-12 weeks.

The GeoGrid baseline tells you which scenario you're in. Usually it's the slower one; occasionally it's this one.

The Full 12-Week Trajectory

Week 1 was just the opening move. The full 12-week Maps Domination Program™ adds:

  • BERT-optimized neighborhood content across the Phoenix metro S2 cells (see our Phoenix hub for the cluster structure)
  • Hub-and-spoke internal linking across service + neighborhood + vertical pages
  • Review generation stabilized at the velocity threshold
  • Schema entity graph deployed across all pages

We expect market share to continue climbing through week 12. We'll update this case study when the final numbers are locked.

Run the Same Methodology on Your Business

If you have a business with strong fundamentals but poor Map Pack visibility, you may see Week-1 lift like this shop did. If your fundamentals need work first, expect the full 8-12 week timeline. Either way, Top 3 in 12 weeks or you don't pay the success fee.
