Dentist Local SEO Benchmarks: How 29 Ranking Dentists Score
We ran the same 12-check Trinity audit we use on real leads against 29 dentists already ranking in the Google Maps top 20 across Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, and Tampa. This is what the businesses getting the calls actually look like under the hood.

The 3 checks dentists fail most
In plain language — what each miss costs, and why fixing it matters.
The main headline should say the service and the city — 'Plumber in Phoenix,' not 'Welcome to Our Website.' It's the single loudest on-page signal for which searches the site belongs in.
Hours in the footer let Google cross-check the website against the Business Profile — and let a customer searching at 9pm know you'll pick up. No hours means a trust gap and lost after-hours calls.
A Google Map embed on the homepage is the easiest 'yes, this is the same business at the same address' proof Google can get. Skip it and Google has to work harder to trust the listing.
What this means if you're a dentist
Every business in this benchmark is already in the Maps top 20 — they're the ones getting the calls in their city right now. And the average one still passes only 9.55 of 12 checks (median 10).
That's 1.16 above the 175-business average of 8.39 — the strongest sites we audited. The bar is higher here: 0% of ranking dentistsscored under 7 of 12. A "decent" site that would win in another trade loses in this one, so the checks they still fail are where the remaining edge lives.
Look at the top of the chart again: 58.6% of the dentistsalready outranking you fail the "H1 headline (city + service)" check, and 48.3%fail "Hours of operation in footer". Those aren't hard fixes — they're signals Google and AI tools read every time they decide who shows up. Pass the checks your competitors fail and you stop losing tiebreakers to businesses no better than yours. More people finding you → more calls → more jobs.
